            As Google has removed the popular application ES File Explorer android app from the Google playstore in april several fake versions of this app have come up. The ES File Explorer app is created by china-based DO Global. The company was caught abusing file permissions and was found guilty of generating fake impressions. The app used to automatically click on ads shown inside the app to generate quick money. Google had removed ES File Explorer along with several other applications created by DO Global.

            Soon after the original ES File Explorer got removed from the google play, several fake variants of the Android app has come up on Google play. Most of these fake apps simply show ads without doing anything. Readers are advised that the official ES File Explorer app no longer exists on Android, so, do not search for it and end up downloading a fake version of it.

            File browser apps generally tends to ask for all permissions to work and it is very important to download a reliable one over private concerns.

            Recently, a fake version of a Samsung app was discovered on Google Play to have over 10 million downloads. The fake app named not only shows ads but also give users an option to download a Samsung firmware for $34.99. This process asked users to give their credit card information instead of letting them bill it through Google Play subscriptions. The app reportedly also lets you unlock any sim for $19.99. That's also without Google Play subscription.

             Also it is said that a user can search for their specific firmware in the 'Download Firmware' section of the app. If your headset already has the app, it is highly recommended to uninstall it and use the typical way of updating the smartphone's OS, which is by navigating through Settings--About phone and Software Update. Meanwhile, if you are using the ES File Explorer on your phone, it is also recommended to uninstall it and opt for other file browser apps.
